Q. What are Skills for life?

A. Skills for life is a term used to describe word and number skills. These skills are used throughout our daily lives, they may need to be updated from time to time and can affect everyone. Throughout the country, many of us would gain from the opportunity to brush up on our Literacy and Numeracy skills.

Q. Do many people have Skills for Life problems?

A. A recent report has suggested that as many people as 1 in 5 people could improve their maths and English. These skills are just like any tools, they get rusty if they are not used.

Q. Do I have a Skills for Life need?

A. Many people feel that they can get by with their word and number skills, but equally, many people have forgotten how to do some of the things they learned at school because they have not used them for a long time. Things like percentages, grammar or spelling correctly seem to be issues for many of us.

Q.How can I find out more about Skills for Life?

A. Look at the Skills for Life section of this website, where you will find information on all of the courses we offer in word and number skills. Before purchasing any of the Skills for Life courses you will be required to undertake an Initial Assessment.

Q.What is Initial Assessment

A. An Initial assessment is a tool that helps identify your starting point for learning. Learners may have different levels of reading, writing, numeracy and language skills. Your tutor will work with you to choose a appropriate learning programmes based on your assessment.
